Job Summary

The Scottish Development team specialises in transport planning and engineering services for clients across the public and private sector. Our focus is on the planning application process taking developments through the due diligence/feasibility stage to master planning, planning submission, purifying of planning conditions, detailed design and site supervision. We are involved in local, national and international projects, moreover, the multi-disciplinary nature of our business means that we are able to deliver project teams from disciplines wider than transportation to offer clients a true ‘one stop shop’.

Going into 2021 the Development team is looking to strengthen and grow not just our team but our skills and capabilities, recognising the need for us to continually innovate and challenge. We will have a range of positions available including for a Consultant / Senior Consultant Transport Planner based in our Glasgow team in quarter 2/3. We are currently Pipelining our candidates ready for next year.

We are looking for a capable diligent professional who is looking to step up to take on responsibilities for delivering and managing projects and mentoring junior members of staff. This person would have competency and experience in working in the Scottish market with a good understanding of the planning process as well as solid skills in AutoCAD, Junctions 9 and LinSig.

Although not an exhaustive list the following duties are associated with the role:

Assist in the preparation of fee proposals for submission to clients, including resources and programme.

Act as project manager as necessary, with responsibility for delivering projects within timescale, budget constraints and quality expectations.

Develop junior staff and assist in training and mentoring.

Undertake Health & Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members and fulfilling all responsibilities for health and safety in design.

Attend internal project briefings and external client/stakeholder meetings.

Prepare client deliverables such as Transport Assessments.

Working knowledge of Design Manual for Roads & Bridges and Local Authority Guidelines

Undertake Swept Path Analysis and standalone junction modelling.

Prepare trip generation and distribution models.

Carry out briefing and management of the junior team members in analysing data, development of plans and report writing.

Attend client and stakeholder meetings.

Prepare client reports.

Ensure the technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief.

Provide specialist advice to other areas of the business.

Manage sub-consultants to produce deliverables against agreed timescales and in line with budget.

Minimum Requirements

Working towards Chartered or Transport Planning Professional status.

Some project management experience.

Competency in use of AutoCAD, Linsig, Junctions 9.

Competency in use of TRICS and gravity models.

Exemplar Excel and Word experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Educated to degree/masters level.

Professional Accreditation such as MICE, MILT or CIHT.
