You will receive support and guidance from the Lifestyles Co-ordinators, Senior Lifestyles Co-ordinator or Registered Manager and be expected to adhere to the Health and Social Care Standards and the SSSC codes of practice for Social Service Workers.

You will hold an SVQ2 in Social Services and Health Care or equivalent in accordance with the SSSC qualification requirements for registration.

You will demonstrate an ability to establish positive relationships with our partner agencies and be able to maintain them for the benefit of the children of Orkney.

You must be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational needs of the service.

You will have experience of working in a nursery and also have experience of developing aspects of early years practice.

You must hold an SCQF level 7 qualification that meets the requirements of the SSSC as a Practitioner in a Day Care of Children Service (minimum of HNC or SVQ3), and the requirement to achieve a relevant SCQF level 8 qualification, within 3 years of taking up post.

You will be at the forefront of work to promote the role of carers, engaging with statutory and third sector partners, as well as driving a culture of change, ensuring the entire community is aware of the support available to Orkney's estimated 3000 unpaid carers.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service. This post is subject to Level 1 Disclosure Scotland clearance.

You will also have skills and demonstrate ability in leadership and management and will be willing to take on the challenge of managing all aspects of social care service provision.

You will provide leadership and ongoing management support across the full range of social care services and will be responsible to the Head of Health and Community Care.

You will plan and undertake, inspections and visits to vessels of all types along with taking the necessary actions to provide advice, guidance and support to ensure compliance with the law and that risks to health are appropriately managed.

You will have an Honours degree in a relevant subject, as well as a REHIS Higher Certificate in Food Practice, to be able to work as a Food Safety Officer.
