You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service. This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.

You will receive support and guidance from the Lifestyles Co-ordinators, Senior Lifestyles Co-ordinator or Registered Manager and be expected to adhere to the Health and Social Care Standards and the SSSC codes of practice for Social Service Workers.

You will hold an SVQ2 in Social Services and Health Care or equivalent in accordance with the SSSC qualification requirements for registration.

You will demonstrate an ability to establish positive relationships with our partner agencies and be able to maintain them for the benefit of the children of Orkney.

You must be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational needs of the service.

You should have experience in dealing with the public and excellent customer care skills are essential.

You will be required to use the Leisure Management software to check-in customers when they arrive and set up equipment ready for bookings.

You should have a good general standard of education including literacy and numeracy and an HSE First Aid qualification would be an advantage.

You should hold a minimum of SVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or other relevant qualification to enable registration with SSSC as a Support Worker in a Care at Home Service for Adults or achieve this within three years of appointment.

You will assist in preparing a choice of nutritional meals to a consistently high standard, whilst also ensuring the highest standards of food hygiene.

You should hold an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate or, if only an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate is held, be able to achieve an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate after appointment to the post.

You will be required to carry out tasks and duties, delegated by senior staff, in an effective and efficient manner ensuring, at all times, the social and domestic care needs of service users.

You should hold an SVQ3 in Social Care or other relevant qualification to enable registration with the SSSC as a Practitioner in a Care Home Service for Adults.

You will be required to carry out tasks and duties delegated by the Registered Manager in an effective and efficient manner, ensuring at all times the social and domestic care needs of service users.

You should hold an SVQ 3 Social Services and Healthcare, or equivalent level qualification, to enable registration with the SSSC.
