Community Ranger jobs

You will be practical, organised and confident working outdoors in all seasons, with a strong interest in conservation and land management.

You will ideally have: - Experience of working safely to industry best practice in tree and woodland work - Experience of, or willingness to learn, wildlife control methods

You will manage and motivate staff and volunteers, drive activities that keep the National Trust for Scotland at the forefront of upland conservation management and visitor engagement. A key part of your success will come from building strong relationships with local stakeholders and being a voice for the Trust in conservation and management of this popular landmark.

You will have a basic knowledge of word processing and will be expected to use the County Council's online systems.

You will have good interpersonal skills and be able to undertake the physical requirements of the role.

You will be expected to work a 1-in-4 weekend rota and occasional bank holidays.

You will report to the Area Ranger, managing land from Kettlewell to Cray. This is a huge and remote area comprising largely moorland and woodland habitats.

You will be responsible for day-to-day habitat management and estate maintenance, including countryside furniture and site infrastructure.
