You will provide a customer-focused Council Tax service, ensuring that billing, collection and recovery processes are carried out accurately and in line with legislation.

You will make liability decisions, process refunds, manage payment arrangements, and help ensure income is maximised through effective recovery.

You will be an experienced Council Tax practitioner with a strong track record of working with complex accounts and legislation.

You will be comfortable supervising others, supporting colleagues and helping to maintain consistent working practices across the team.

You will work closely with colleagues across the service to maintain high standards of accuracy, compliance and customer service.

You will help maintain the Council’s income collection service for Council Tax and Business Rates, ensuring payments are received, recorded and processed correctly.

You will set up and monitor direct debits, prepare refunds, trace missing payments and resolve account anomalies.

You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of Exeter’s business rates and council tax property base.

You will issue bills, review reliefs and exemptions, inspect properties, and liaise with the Valuation Office Agency to confirm valuations.

You will also support recovery activity and assist with system testing when required.
