You will be working as an SEN Teaching Assistant at a Special Needs School in Abingdon, supporting primary-age children with a diverse range of needs.

You will support a small class of 8 to 10 students, working alongside the class teacher and another teaching assistant to create a fun and exciting learning environment.

You will be supporting children aged 3 to 16 with moderate learning difficulties, as well as children with autism and communication difficulties.

You will encourage positive social interactions and help students build effective relationships with their peers, while enhancing their communication skills.

You will help facilitate a fun, friendly and safe environment for students to thrive both academically and personally. Your role as a learning support assistant will also include providing general classroom support to the class teacher.

You will take initiative well and be able to adapt your approach to match the needs of the children.

You will support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and various other needs directly within the classroom. The ideal candidate will be patient and passionate about making a difference in education and mental health. This position provides the opportunity to gain great experience in psychology-related fields and is a full-time role with an ASAP start.

You will also help manage any challenging behaviour that may arise, and encourage positive decision making.

You will gain a first-hand insight into development and neurodiversity, as well as the therapeutic and restorative methods used to help engage Autistic children. This will give you the experience essential to train as a Psychologist or Therapist in the future.
