You will be responsible for developing a range of exciting and innovative R&D projects.

You will be an essential member of the R&D team, delivering cutting-edge engineering projects, pioneering industry-leading technology, and working in an agile engineering team requiring a multiskilled approach whilst ensuring compliance with customer, industry, and regulatory requirements.

You will help shape how devices are assessed and qualified for use in space, drawing on existing data, modelling, and targeted testing where appropriate. - This role suits a physicist or engineer with research experience and strong technical writing skills, who wants to move into applied space work.

You will help set the direction for AI and data science across the business, driving the adoption of modern AI development practices and scalable, cloud‐native architectures at enterprise scale.

You will provide technical and thought leadership, engaging with C‐level and senior stakeholders to define architectural principles and strategic direction.

You will work on real production problems rather than research-only work, owning models from first iteration through to live deployment.

You will collaborate closely with other data scientists, data engineers, and DevOps, with the freedom to shape how GenAI and ML are used across the platform.

You will join a dedicated and collaborative team at the centre of one of DWP's highest priority initiatives: the Health Transformation Programme. This position places you at the forefront of redesigning key health related services, working with some of the largest and most complex datasets available in the UK to generate high quality insights that improve outcomes for thousands of people.

You will design and build the systems that identify the signals that matter most for visibility, the retrieval and embedding architecture that feeds the models, the ranking and scoring framework that prioritises actions and the evaluation layer that measures how different LLMs behave across queries, surfaces and contexts.

You will work on modernizing authentication and login experiences across multiple consumer applications, helping drive growth through high-quality user experience, experimentation, and data-driven decision making.
