You will characterise, optimise, scale, and validate the R&D team’s unique ophthalmic production processes, ensuring they are robust, repeatable, and scalable. As this is a completely new optical system, the role requires a high degree of creativity, along with a proactive, hands-on engineering approach to developing novel and often complex production processes.

You should also have experience with optical design software such as Zemax, OpticStudio and also Python. Skills: BSc, MSc, PhD, NPI, R&D, Physics, Photonics, Fiber Optics, Optoelectronics, Optical, Zemax, OpticStudio, Python.

You will be a key contributor, working closely with the Design and Production teams to develop critical equipment that supports the assembly of novel prototypes. As this is a completely new optical system, the role requires a high degree of creativity, with responsibility for developing first-of-their-kind assembly equipment and production processes.

You will also have a BS7671 Wiring Regulations Qualification or equivalent knowledge.

You will also have experience in: HV & LV Electrical systems. Using Safe Systems of work, permits, risk assessments, etc. Electrical cabling to 18th Edition Wiring Regs.

You will also become part of the Magnetic Materials Groups team of technicians which support a range of different beamlines and a support laboratory.

You will hold a ONC or GNVQ level 2 (or equivalent) qualification or demonstrate equivalent work experience.

You will demonstrate knowledge and experience of:

You will work across mechanical, optical, and analytical disciplines to ensure that complex mechanical systems, sub-systems, and mechanisms come together into a robust, high-performance product.

You will take ownership of overseeing the lifecycle of the mechanical systems, ensuring that they integrate seamlessly with one another.
