You will assist in the effective and efficient co-ordination, scheduling and monitoring of the Care at Home service using an electronic rostering system.

You will organise and manage the work routines of a large, dispersed group of care at home assistants in line with the principles of the Health and Social Care Standards.

You will provide person centred care and support to older people and / or to people who have a learning or physical disability to enable them to live as independently as possible, in line with the principles of the Health and Social Care Standards and the Scottish Social Services Codes of practice and local and national policies in relation to the protection of vulnerable adults.

You will receive support and guidance from the Lifestyles Co-ordinators, Senior Lifestyles Co-ordinator or Registered Manager and be expected to adhere to the Health and Social Care Standards and the SSSC codes of practice for Social Service Workers.

You will hold an SVQ2 in Social Services and Health Care or equivalent in accordance with the SSSC qualification requirements for registration.

You will be part of a supportive team of social work staff based at the Council Offices in Kirkwall.

You should hold a degree or Post Graduate Qualification in Social Work that allows registration with the Scottish Social Service Council as a Social Worker.

You must also be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council as a Social Worker.

You will demonstrate an ability to establish positive relationships with our partner agencies and be able to maintain them for the benefit of the children of Orkney.

You must be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational needs of the service.

You should have experience in dealing with the public and excellent customer care skills are essential.

You will be required to use the Leisure Management software to check-in customers when they arrive and set up equipment ready for bookings.

You should have a good general standard of education including literacy and numeracy and an HSE First Aid qualification would be an advantage.

You should be able to demonstrate the full range of professional duties associated with Architecture and Design with a good understanding of construction detailing, materials specification, contract administration and project management together with an understanding of contract issues and CDM Regulations.

You will be expected to work shifts in covering school and public sessions throughout the opening hours.

You will be carrying out a swimming teacher/coaching role and training is available.

You should be able to work as part of a team, providing an excellent standard of cleanliness and customer care.
